This highly dynamic and interactive online course was designed for medical speech language pathologists to have an introduction into nasoendoscopy, specifically flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), with some advanced interpretation considerations. Topics covered in this course include anatomy and physiology of the swallowing mechanism, use of physiology-first documentation, appropriate utilization and contraindications to nasoendoscopy, how to improve test-retest reliability using protocols, provider body mechanics during nasoendoscopy, basic FEES interpretation, and advanced laryngeal pathology identification and description. Unique to this course is discussion regarding the participant’s core personality traits as they relate to interdisciplinary and patient communication before, during, and after the FEES procedure.
