Course Description:
This highly dynamic and interactive online course was designed for medical speech language pathologists to have an introduction into nasoendoscopy, specifically flexible endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES), with some advanced interpretation considerations. Topics covered in this course include anatomy and physiology of the swallowing mechanism, use of physiology-first documentation, appropriate utilization and contraindications to nasoendoscopy, how to improve test-retest reliability using protocols, provider body mechanics during nasoendoscopy, basic FEES interpretation, and advanced laryngeal pathology identification and description. Unique to this course is discussion regarding the participant’s core personality traits as they relate to interdisciplinary and patient communication before, during, and after the FEES procedure.
Learner Objectives:
The participant will identify appropriate indications and contraindications for utilization of nasoendoscopy for swallow assessment.
The participant will differentiate between normal and abnormal swallowing physiology as assessed using nasoendoscopy.
The participant will describe swallow physiology as observed with nasoendoscopy using physiology-first language.
Intended Audience:
This course is intended for speech-language pathologists who hold a master’s degree or higher who work with individuals with dysphagia or graduate students with a strong foundation of anatomy and physiology and dysphagia coursework.

Course Tuition:
Cost for this course is $450 per person. At this time, there are no student or group discounts. All course slides and materials will be provided to attendees via email prior to the start of the course.
Program Completion Requirements:
In order to receive full credit for ASHA CEUs, the participant is expected to be in attendance throughout the entire course. Additionally, participants are expected to score above 80% on a short learning quiz which will be provided at the end of each day.
Continuing education credit:
This course is offered for 1.5 ASHA CEUs (Intermediate Level; Professional Area).
